ZERO DAY SOCIETY CTF cybersecurity tournament held in Tashkent with Green Light's support

On 8 August, the School 21 venue in Tashkent hosted a cybersecurity competition run by ZERO DAY SOCIETY. The CTF (Capture The Flag) format is hands-on practice in defending and attacking IT infrastructure, played as a game. Information security specialists, analysts and developers work through tasks on finding vulnerabilities, investigating incidents and breaking into systems in order to capture a hidden “flag” and score points. It is a place to rehearse real scenarios safely — for engineers who are just starting out and for seasoned security experts alike.

Interest ran high: every on-site place was booked within three days of the announcement, and participants also registered from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the USA, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Egypt.

The event was initiated and led by Nigora Zhabborova, head of Zero Day Society and Project Manager at Green Light. The company was glad to support its employee's project and became a sponsor of the tournament. Nigora notes that organising the event gave her a unique experience of scaling a project and raising funding.
